Was so relieved to see that the babies were still alive this morning. They were in a pile at the back of the crate so I wondered as I picked up each one. It reminded me of the time when I thought one of my wee foster babies had died. I picked him up and he was limp in my hands….I swore “Oh cr#$!!” and “boing”…he woke up!
They are still not out of the woods and to be honest…we don’t think these kittens will survive. Mom couldn’t be more attentive. Two shifts today and I went back at noon to squirt some milk into their mouths but Carol said mom is stressed with all the handling so we’re not sure what to do now. We’ll see how things play out.
Good news…Black Momma’s eyes were 100 percent and she ate!!! What a turnaround in less than 24 hours. She even took some treats that she refused yesterday. She still has very loose stools so we’re giving her acidophidus as well as lysine to boost her immunity. Momma enjoyed being cuddled, carried and cradled like a baby. She is so thin but we’re hoping that she will continue to eat with hi calorie food and recovery mixed with some taste tempting cat food.
We’re happy that the tuxedo litter is doing so well – eating, playing and still no signs of the virus…they’re enjoying being kittens!
Tricia and Lyn shift tomorrow. Hope it will be good news.
