One of our adopter’s kittens was sick and we hoped for a full recovery but it wasn’t to be. This is their second KK cat which was put to sleep within a year and we were so deeply saddened for them. We do our best to ensure our rescues are as healthy as can be but as with humans, the body sometimes fails. It reminded me of when I lost 4 in a short time.

I buffered each one – Wayne, then Omar, then Chuckles, and then Festivus – all were put to sleep after being with me a short time. Each loss does take its toll but I have to think that each one of these precious, once discarded little souls, came to me because I was chosen…I was the one able to give them the love and care that they needed during their allotted time here. I hope the bereaved family knows that they were chosen too.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of —

Wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence.

Hov’ring there I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air…

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue

I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace

Where never lark or even eagle flew —

And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod

The high un trespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God

    Oh my goodness 🙂 So, so very hard to let go to such an innocent little life. I hope they will come to know that they were chosen as well. If not right now, at least some day soon. Very sorry to hear.
