Back in the Saddle
It’s hard to believe that we’re already mid July and as someone reminded me last month, the days are getting shorter. Gee thanks for that. Hope this warm weather continues but feeling for those dealing with fires and extreme heat.
As expected, the rescue carried on without me, with the important work of adoptions and pulling cats from Animal Services. It was great to get a break from the physical work (driving, picking up supplies etc., delivering, vet appointments) but more so the stress. Not having to worry about what we’re going to do with so -and-so, can we save just one more, figuring out who goes where and when, coordinating “meet and greets” – was the best about being “away” – if only in my mind. Thanks to Lorraine who encouraged me not to publish a July newsletter – felt so guilty but having made that decision, lifted a weight from these shoulders.
Carol and I met for 2 hours and reviewed all that had happened when I was ‘off’ and last week I got caught up with the paperwork.
We have a lengthy agenda for our board meeting tonight including a financial report. We were pleased that our yard sale and hosta sale conducted by Laura Mironsky generated $2 350. I did spend a few days re-organizing my garage. Habitat picked up some of the remaining donations that were not sold and I discovered my ladder and some dog harnesses and boots must have been sold as I couldn’t find them. Oh well…all to a good cause.
Marlys will pick up the pizza and we eat and tackle our full agenda. Made some blueberry tarts which I can disguise with some ice cream. Had a bit of pastry left over from making a pie for out of town company arriving, but not enough to make the tart shells thicker…NOT that you care! 🙂
Everyone can make it tonight including 2 guests, Risa and Kara who did the application for eligibility for lottery license (my application was rejected) and will talk about next steps: applying for the license and then conducting the fundraiser!
Back at it.
