A bit of a rant and a bit of a chuckle
Senseless death of Cecil and the other Cecils out there….
Why do we kill just for the thrill? Why do we abandon helpless animals and think they can survive. Maybe we know they won’t and just don’t care. Are we so hardened to human and animal suffering that it’s easy to turn our backs, look the other way and deafen our ears? Do we not understand that animals have feelings, thoughts, feel pain, panic, joy, and sorrow…that all life is precious?
Picking up Hermioni after her spay, clinic staff commented on how adorable she was and added…”all the Kitty Kare cats are so nice!” That’s what is so frustrating and hence the rant. These rescues were not feral. These were family pets that were disposed of with no thought or care. Someone wanted these cats dead when all they want is to live and love. Even if they were feral, they are living beings. We are not their masters…we are their care takers. Can we not respect them for what they are?
Heard a comment about a crowd behaving “like a bunch of animals” – interesting….animals behave better than people…..I am morphing into Rick Mercer.
On another note, a bit of panic when we had an adoption inquiry and the fosters were nowhere to be found. No returned emails or phone calls. Tricia went to the home. She was relieved to see the cats through the window, looking happy and healthy. She left notes taped to the door. Tricia waited for a response to her communiques and but still no answer. Finally the foster emailed – now connected to Wifi and informed her that there was a relative checking on the cats.
Poor Tricia was prepared to break down doors to ensure the kittens were okay. I could just see the headlines….”98 pound Kitty Kare rescuer arrested after been found peering through windows and ramming the front door with her shoulder making nary a dent.” What we won’t do!
